My Life Coaching Philosophy

My Transformational Life Coaching Philosophy

I think its important that a Life Transformation Coach explains and discusses what that actually means. That is, what philosophies, what beliefs and what values underpin that model and approach to working with others.

Its important for a client to know that every coach is different. No two coaches are ever the same. Some are coaches in the purest sense of the word, while others have a more eclectic approach that encapsulates a framework interwoven with a combination of  mentoring, advising and counseling.

I am a guide. I am a catalyst and conduit for your personal growth and transformation. I am a collaborator and a cocreator.

My intention and purpose is to work with you to help you access those powerful inner reserves and resources that you already have. Its important to state right now that this isn't done because its some kind of feel good kick back on my behalf - its far, far from that.

You see I believe that giving advice is often a futile exercise. It simply doesn't work a lot of the time.

Why? Because it's advocated and promoted by somebody else - their values, their beliefs, their philosophy and their biases, personal limitations and views of the world. In other words somebody outside of your own personal experience. That's hardly a foundation for success is it? That's hardly an opportunity for someone to allow and enable their own view of the world to evolve is it?

I strongly encourage and facilitate you to create, and if you choose, to live into the possibilities and opportunities you are able to unearth and align to in your own life.

You see I think there is a silent epidemic so systematic and so entrenched in us all, that we'd barely notice it - even if it came up and tapped us on the shoulder and banged us on the head with a brick!

What do I mean exactly?

I mean that our well meaning family, our friends, our co-workers and those we circulate with and around, have been indoctrinated by those who came before them.

They have expectations and beliefs about life and how it should be lived. When advice is given, regardless of intention, it is tainted with those beliefs and values.

Of course not all advice is bad - but that is not what life coaching is about. Often it is those people who love and care for you the most that hold you back with their view on life - and their opinion on your abilities...or lack of them.

As your coach I am totally removed from that mindset. I provide you with support and a clean slate to work from. I see your potential and your possibilities - not your limitations.

It goes deeper than mere advice, others' values and whether you heed it or not of course. You see I am focused on results - real results. Hard and fast ego based (you will get to understand what I mean by that) outcomes often fall short as they are not truly aligned to, or owned by the person setting these goals.

In other words, setting goals for goals sake, or being seen to do things can often backfire - you need to take ownership of this change... not have it thrust upon you.

People change and people grow when they come to their own realisations in their own time. Life coaching is the perfect medium for this.

A big part of my coaching philosophy is to coach via the transformational coaching model - because I know it works.

In a nutshell that means I prompt you to come to your own realisations and conclusions, and as your coach and accountability partner, I help you to help yourself along that transformational journey.

The coaching process is not about me - its about you. My values, beliefs, opinions about your life are irrelevant. My intention is for you to understand, or further understand and develop your understanding of your own.

My role as your coach is to help you move beyond your self imposed, and others' imposed, limitations and sticking points in your life.

It's my job to ask the right questions, the challenging questions, to get you to transform your current way of thinking and towards living your life.

Regardless of how great and competent and intelligent you undoubtedly are - you have blind spots, you probably have values, opinions and beliefs you didn't fully acknowledge or appreciate.

You may also discover that your beliefs and values may not be reflected in your actions and your thinkings. As your personal coach I help you identify these things - I help you transform them and help you to help yourself in creating new ways of seeing and living your life.

Life coaching is about working with functional people and helping them move towards being exceptional. I work from a position of strength - I acknowledge you have the resources and inner knowings to come to your own conclusions.

This is not a token approach - everyone has strengths, talents and their own natural abilities and inclinations. Together we not only uncover those, we discover and further develop the person you are.

Importantly, my coaching philosophy, my approaches, and the tools I use, go beyond any explanation of what it is I do and what we do together. Our coaching together can take many twists and turns. Instinct and intuition play a big part in what I do - cocreation is what we do together as a team.

My philosophy is strongly aligned to empowerment of the client. This is independent of any goals or fears or aspirations that may be present - and it is a natural by-product of working with me.

Sometimes the best results are not measured, and the best of outcomes unseen. As a coach I trust the process of coaching and the impact it can have above and beyond what may be aimed for or intended.

If you have not already, I suggest you take the time to listen to my programs (find them under the 'recommended resources' tab drop down menu) to get a much better feel and appreciation of what it is I do, and how I can help you move forward in your life.
